Chapter 160

Mirinho announces to Tonho that he is going to sell the sugar mill. Tonho assures Dona Menina, Januário, and the others that they will not be left without land. Niara is discharged from the hospital. An armed man enters Miguel's store, and an accident ensues. Miguel is overcome with despair upon realizing he has taken a man's life. Miguel is detained. Malungo visits Alika and Niara and announces that he is returning home.
